The inevitable finiteness of being and things, and the obsession with their evocation through mise-en-scene and images, as well as the idea of their absence through foreshadowing or signs, are starting points for a dialogue, that seeks, in its elementary intention, to explore such celebrations and evocations, through customs/rites and myths, as well as the history of the image and its relationship with nature, as a parallel of vitality, in an exercise of reflection on the way we understand the timeless theme from “Memento Mori”.

Manuel Tainha (PT) lives and works in Lisbon, Portugal. He studied at Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Lisbon and in Anselm Reyle's class at the Hamburg University of Fine Arts (HFBK). His work explores composition through alternating processes, whether addition/subtraction or two-dimensional/objectual. The cultural value of materials such as textiles and embroidery, the gap in the architectural context, and the correlations of fragility and violence in the work process and the history of art are constant in her work process.

Matilde Travassos (PT) had her masters in photography at Speos Paris, lived in London and worked at Spring Studios where she assisted some of the best photographers in London. Matilde explores themes of the origins of life and the search for the divine in her photography. She uses the tarot as a tool to guide her work and to connect with the souls of her subjects. As she continues to create, she seeks to find a meaning and purpose for her work that goes beyond the mere capturing of images, and to define herself as an artist who can use photography to reveal the deeper truths of the human experience.
